Aim to build a technological and scientific innovation event with global influence

The 2023 Hengqin Global Investment Promotion Conference welcoming dinner party was held in Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel on May 8^th. More than 300 distinguished guests at home and abroad gathered in the Hengqin, having discussions on the business opportunities and future development of this area.

Nie Xinping, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone (hereinafter referred to as Cooperation Zone) stated in his opening speech that Hengqin has developed into a crucial window, which connects the two important domestic and international markets and takes advantage of the two major resources of the Hengqin Free Trade Zone and Macao Free Trade Port. The Cooperation Zone owns huge advantages and potential that are beyond compare, providing a wider development space for various market players.

The conference seeks to ensure businesses learn more about the economic vitality, innovative driving force, regional charm, and investment potential of Hengqin and Macao and establish a bridge of cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win results. The Cooperation Zone will continue to offer all-around assistance and support to businesses and talents and make every effort to perform well in all kinds of service areas. and assist businesses in growing their market share and achieving higher development through access to a top-notch business environment and a thriving innovation culture.

The banquet exhibited a significant international flair. More than 80 foreign businesses and institutions with more than 100 foreign friends were presented, including consular delegations from 30 nations such as Germany, France, Canada, Portugal, Singapore, and Japan. All distinguished guests gathered there to witness how the Cooperation Zone is going to develop and what opportunities it will offer.

Prior to now, Hengqin and Macao collaborated to form a joint delegation that traveled to Portugal, Spain, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia to boost business promotions and negotiations, in a bid to increase interest in Hengqin from foreign companies. Nearly 350 business matching negotiations have been organized, in addition to the 17 contract projects that have been arranged through precise matching. Numerous representatives from Singapore, Portugal, and other countries have come to Hengqin for a field visit and to seek development opportunities through further exchanges within the Cooperation Zone.

 “This is my first time in Hengqin, and I am impressed by the infrastructure and software that are being built here,” said Abu Bakar Mohd Nor, chairman of the Singapore Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEC). He also noted that Hengqin has a unique advantage as businesses can take advantage of Macao’s open market conditions due to its proximity.

“We plan to establish a Chinese subsidiary in the future, and the joint delegation has shown us that Hengqin is a good choice,” said Ooi Ching Liang, Logic Engineering Director of SkyeChip Sdn. Bhd. He also stated that the goal of the return trip to Hengqin is to further strengthen relations and cooperate with the Cooperation Zone while learning more about the favorable policies and future possibilities of its technological sector.

Wonderful performances, such as those of Macao folk dances, Lingnan music, and Hengqin-Macao song singing, were also organized as part of the banquet. A well-known female singer Cheung(A Xi) also performed several songs like “Qin Ao He Ming” (meaning Hengqin Macao in harmony), the promotion theme song for the Cooperation Zone. These impressive performances showcased Macao’s rich cultural heritage and the successful integration of Hengqin and Macao in both music and culture.
